Tour of Britain
The Tour of Britain is the UK's biggest professional bicycle race and a centrepiece of the British sporting calendar, attracting over a million spectators to the roadside, and hundreds of thousands more on television and via the internet.
In 2010 Tour of Britain took in new locations like Swansea, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex while also re-visiting old favourites like Blackpool, Stoke-on-Trent and the South West. Eight action packed stages contributed to what was widely regarded as the toughest Tour of Britain yet, with Stages Two, Three and Four in the Staffordshire Moorlands, Wales and Somerset and Devon shaping the races’ outcome.
In addition to the debut of Team Sky, five domestic British teams took to the start line of Stage One in Rochdale, showcasing the growth of the sport in Britain over recent years. There were big names from the Continent too, including Tour de France stage winners Heinrich Haussler, Robbie Hunter and Baden Cooke, Irish star and recent Tour of Poland winner Dan Martin and sprint sensation Andre Greipel, who would end his HTC – Columbia career with a trio of Tour of Britain stage wins.
After the success of the 2010 Tour of Britain, the 2011 edition is another tough and demanding route that visits England, Scotland and Wales, with an inclusion of an individual time trial in central London. It's going to be great.
Morvelo are extremely proud to be commissioned to produce an Official Tour of Britain Commemorative Jersey for the 2011 event.
